Betula – Birch
Betula (Birch) is a genus of deciduous trees celebrated for their graceful form and striking, interesting shredding bark. As medium-sized trees, they are often used as shade trees or ornamental specimens, best suited for larger landscapes. Birch trees provide golden yellow fall color and year-round interest with their peeling bark and delicate catkins. While not all in the genus are native to the Midwest, they still offer valuable habitat for wildlife and attract pollinators!
