For six generations, our family has cultivated and crafted strong roots in agriculture. With this understanding of the land and respect for the natural process, our nursery has grown to encompass this passion. Rising above the cornfields of Grundy County in North Central Illinois, our trees grow on 90 acres of some of the Midwest’s finest fertile soil. Our philosophy of growing really stems from three key relationships – our soil, our trees, and our customers.
Our commitment to conservation started long ago when our family became one of the first in the country to practice no-till farming in row crop agriculture. This care for the land provides our roots with a soil structure that is naturally porous and rich in organic matter. By understanding what happens beneath the soil, we can afford our trees the proper environment to develop a strong and healthy root structure. We respect the relationship between our trees and the soil in which they grow, and we also respect the soil for what it will provide for many generations to come.
Building from below the ground up, we pay close attention to the plant stock we choose to become our trees. The relationship we have with our trees must first start with the nursery from which we select our liners. We only choose the finest quality liners to ensure we can provide the finest quality trees. After planting, we do more than grow our trees – we craft them. Growing trees is as much art as it is science. When we prune and tend to our trees, we constantly balance that relationship between the two to produce the perfect tree – healthy and beautiful.
“To exist as a nation, to prosper as a state, and to live as people, we must have trees.” ~ Theodore Roosevelt
Our passion for growing is equally as important to us as our customer relationships. We want our customers to know and understand our trees and how they were grown. We want our customers trust in our quality and integrity. And we want our customers to feel good about their decision to let us be a partner in their vision. By growing trees, we are given the opportunity to partner with great people in this industry. Growing doesn’t end when our tree is harvested. On some levels it is the beginning of a new relationship between us and our customer – one that will continue to grow and flourish for many years to come.
We invite you to join us at our farm and partner with us as your grower. Our soil, our trees, and our customers – we welcome the opportunity to grow with all three.
