At SGN Trees, we grow healthy trees, deep roots, and strong communities. With deep roots in the local community, we are always looking for opportunities to share our knowledge and passion for trees! We love partnering with schools, churches, and nonprofits to Curate the Canopy of our local communities. We have recently partnered with a new nonprofit organization in our hometown of Mazon, Grundy Eunoia Wellness Center, to plant five new trees along Grand Ridge Road!
“Grundy Eunoia Wellness Center is a new nonprofit launched by the Community Foundation of Grundy County in an attempt to fill the gap of behavioral health service providers to our county’s youth.” We are excited to see this positive addition to Mazon! Access to mental health services are limited, especially for children, so we are happy to support an organization looking to increase access to care, programs, and services for children in our county.
Eunoia is housed at the old Mazon Bank building in the center of town. You may have noticed construction work being done there these past few months, all in preparation for their open house on October 17th from 4-7pm. While you’re there, check out our five SGN trees along Grand Ridge Road. These beautiful additions to the property are a Moraine Sweetgum, Princeton American Elm, Swamp White Oak, and two Cumulus Serviceberry. We like to think that these five trees are symbolic of the five benefits of trees we base our Arbor Day science lesson on each year!
These environmental benefits of trees include providing habitat for native creatures, stormwater management and erosion control, energy conservation in our homes and buildings, purifying our air from pollutants, and providing beauty benefiting our mental and physical wellbeing. Trees benefit us and our communities in so many different ways! Help us share this knowledge and feel free to use these resources to further educate your community about the many benefits of trees!
We can’t wait to watch these trees grow alongside the kiddos learning and growing at Eunoia. If you’re available October 17th, consider stopping by the open house and say hi, learn about this new organization and asset to our community, and check out the new trees! The fall color will be beautiful!
