See You at the IAA & Partners Show!
We’re looking forward to connecting with many of you at the Illinois Arborist Association Conference & Trade Show in Tinley Park, November 17-18th. It’s always a highlight of the season, a great chance to learn, reconnect, and celebrate the people who care for trees across our state. Stop by and say hello if you’ll be there; we love catching up and sharing what’s growing in our fields.
Later that week, we will also have a booth at the Arbor Day Foundation’s Partners in Community Forestry Conference in St. Louis, November 18-19th! We attended two years ago when the conference was in Chicago, and are excited to see it back in the Midwest again this year! This conference is always inspiring and educational, and we can’t wait to connect with our tree friends again.
Living Christmas Tree Fundraiser
We have some exciting events coming up these next few weeks on the farm. We are partnering with Illinois Valley Industries to host a Living Christmas Tree fundraiser, which you can learn more about here on our blog. Each potted evergreen tree is 3′ tall and comes pre-decorated with burlap & bow, dried orange slices, and a beautiful, one-of-a-kind ornament handmade by Illinois Valley Industries clients. Enjoy for yourself or give as a gift! There are a few different volunteer opportunities, like the Christmas Tree Decorating Party on November 21st from 1-4pm at SGN and the Christmas Tree Pick-Up Day from 1-4pm at SGN.
SGN Yoga & Leaf by Leaf Book Club
We are also excited to host local yoga instructor Abby Jackman back to the farm for a Friendsgiving Yoga Flow on Sunday, November 22nd from 4-6pm! Join us for a moment of gratitude for the abundance of love and friendships in our lives. Bring a friend or come and meet a new one at our first ever Friendsgiving Yoga Event! Following yoga, we will all share in a communal potluck dinner. Please bring your yoga mat and a dish to pass afterwards for the Friendship Feast! The yoga will take place outside in the trees if the weather is nice, or inside the heated shed if it’s too chilly.
Finally, we are excited for the last Leaf by Leaf Book Club of 2026 on Friday, December 11th from 6-7pm at the nursery. Join us in discussing the works of Mary Oliver and sharing in good food and conversation. Bring your favorite poem, essay, or fun facts – it should be a great discussion! And if you haven’t already, check out the latest PBS documentary about her, Mary Oliver: Saved by the Beauty of the World. We look forward to hosting you to our farm this season!
