Between a Groundhog’s Day shadow, Leap Year, the saying “March is in like a lion and out like a lamb”, a late March 5″ snowfall, and now April Fool’s Day… why not throw a global pandemic in the mix? As growers we are very good at adapting to what gets thrown our way. Our tight window of opportunity to get spring work done in normal years commands us to be flexible and quick to pivot – and to be very patient.
So we are pressing on with that same persistence which gets us through every spring in the field. Likewise we are hearing of similar stories from customers who are adapting to changing schedules and work procedures or customers who are changing their sales strategies on a dime to capture an evolving market. We are hearing from communities who are committed to their tree planting programs this spring because it’s a “bright spot of hope” that residents need to see happening in their neighborhoods.
We have always believed the Green Industry is the best possible industry to be working in. The collaboration, innovation, and perseverance that our colleagues display every day have helped us all weather many storms together, both literally and figuratively. We will get through this one together as well. The plants & services we all provide to our communities are invaluable. We hope that in the long run, the beauty we all work to grow in our communities will indeed be what brings people the calm, health, and peace we all know a healthy green landscape delivers.
We look forward to an April of planting & digging your trees!
