~April 16, 2023
As I start to write this, we are half way through the month. What a whirlwind it has been so far! We hit the ground running with tree planting, and finished getting our new crop planted by April 11 in record time. Planting soil conditions were optimal, and we are receiving some much needed rain to settle in the new crop. For more about planting, check out this blog post with links to pictures and videos: Tree Planting 2023 at SGN
Between planting days, we continue to harvest and ship trees. Our above ground sales yard is starting to take shape. As trees start to leaf out across the field, we chase around the buds and stay ahead of leaves on the harvest crew. The later leafing trees like Oaks, Hackberry, and Coffee Tree are next on the list. Here are some cool images from above while harvesting and moving trees: Spring Harvest
April is a great time to be in the nursery. Trees are popping back to life after a long winter hiatus. The shades of green as leaves emerge and the pops of color from flowers are a spectacular sight to see! Follow us on Instagram & FB @springgrovenursery for more of the day to day action at SGN Trees!
