We had a great day hosting the Illinois Arborist Association NEMF group and friends to our farm yesterday! Our SGN and iTrees.com teams got to talk trees and bring everyone on a field tour to share how we do things here on the farm! We loved getting to catch up with old friends and make new ones – thanks to everyone who came out to learn, share, and GROW! ORIGINAL POST 10-12-23 We are excited to welcome the Northeast Municipal Foresters to the nursery November 16, 2023 for a Gather at the Grove event! Fall is the ideal time to visit a nursery! Growing quality trees requires immense patience, time, and a long term vision. Similarly, implementing a forestry planting demands the same level of patience, time, and long term planning. So how can we seamlessly merge these two intricate processes to create a successful planting event?  The key lies in establishing effective communication and collaboration between a grower and forester. This ensures the proper tree is selected, tagged, harvested, loaded, delivered, and planted.

During your visit, SGN Growers will highlight the crucial logistics that happen behind the scenes to make a seasonal planting a success for everyone. You will gain insights into the nursery inventory & ordering process, learn about harvest timing of species, receive valuable tips on tree tagging, and understand the intricacies of transporting a tree from the field to the parkway.  Out in the field you will get a firsthand look at how we grow our SGN Trees and witness tree harvesting and loading in action. Along the way, we will also highlight some of our favorite new tree varieties growing in our fields.

Following the tour, a box lunch will be provided for you to enjoy here on the farm or take with you on the road. We look forward to sharing our passion for trees with you as we Gather at the Grove in November! Register with April Toney at IAA april@illinoisarborist.org or call 877-617-8887.
