Syringa pekinensis ‘Morton’ – Beijing Gold Tree Lilac is a selection from the Chicagoland Grows program that exhibits multiple seasons of interest in the landscape. Grown as either tree form or shrub form, this small ornamental adds beauty all season. Large fragrant yellow blooms cover the tree in spring. The dark green foliage is set apart by the exfoliating cinnamon-brown bark. The fine branching and upright form add additional architecture interest in winter. Beijing Gold makes an excellent specimen plant or it can be used in small groupings.
