Taxodium distichum – The Bald Cypress grows well in wet areas but is hardy enough to tolerate a wide range of conditions. It is a deciduous evergreen that turns rusty brown in fall and has a shaggy brown bark. This is one of our “Tried & True” favorites.
GROWER’S NOTES:
Bald Cypress is a vigorous grower in our fields. It tends to develop a lot of caliper before height, so our challenge is to stay on top of pruning and structure work so that by the time it leaves our field, it has a good canopy established. We are impressed with how well it grows in both drought and wet conditions.
