Summer has arrived in the nursery! The trees have been soaking up some sunshine and heat which is adding some good growth and caliper. We are still busy pruning, staking, weeding, spraying, and mowing. Below are a few pics of Honeylocust pruning. We have completed those along with Elms and are onto Oaks & Hackberry now.
In the Oak blocks we have been taking tree off the stakes, letting the flex around a bit, pruning the heads back, and re-staking as needed. Below are a few pics of some Oaks Jamie was pruning and some nice finished Chinkapin Oaks ready to dig next spring.
Otherwise in the field we are seeing some beautiful specimens that are ready for our next harvest. Below are some pics of Japanese Tree Lilac in bloom, Serviceberry in full fruit (tasty!), Lindens in bloom, Northern Catalpa blooms, Elms & Kentucky Coffeetree coming along nicely in the field. What a great time to come visit the nursery!
