Every year in August, we do a comprehensive field inventory – measuring & counting every tree in the nursery. SGN Trees Grower, Joey Thomas, is heading up the inventory process this season. We use the InstaCaliper technology from 2nd Sight Bio to help gather counts & measures on caliper and multi-stem trees.  After collecting the data in the field, we enter new numbers into our GrowPoint inventory software. In a few weeks, we will have the numbers gathered from the field and ready to share with customers, kicking off a new ordering season at the nursery.

We created a handy graphic below to help illustrate the flow of inventory, ordering, and harvesting of trees in the nursery. Once our new field numbers are ready in a few weeks, we are able to start locking in both Fall 2024 & Spring 2025 orders.

Visiting our nursery this time of year helps customers get a picture of the upcoming crops of trees we are growing for their projects. As the counts come in to the office daily, we are happy to report it looks like excellent growth out there in the field. Stay tuned for new inventory numbers soon!
