Friday, April 24th is Arbor Day, one of our all-time favorite holidays here at Spring Grove Nursery! We can’t wait to see the trees we plant this year grow and thrive in our communities. Stay tuned for updates and pictures from the plantings this year.

It was a beautiful Friday to deliver some trees to a few of our favorite customers! We ended at Klehm Arboretum and Botanic Gardens - what a gem! Located in the heart of Rockford Illinois this 155 acre garden sits on an old nursery from the Klehm family. We saw some spectacular specimens while strolling through the grounds. The magnolias were in full bloom and the scent was intoxicating! The arboretum has been purchasing trees from our farm for several years. We always enjoy having their volunteer tree enthusiasts come down to tag. Today we ran into one of those dedicated guys, Steve. He recognized us right away and directed us to the garden where several of our trees were planted last year. They look great and we can’t wait to watch them grow! Today we delivered some Dakota Pinnacle birch and American Beech. We hope they are happy in their new home! If you are ever in the Rockford area, definitely check this beautiful garden out. Spring Equinox Book Club Gathering Recap!

We welcomed spring the best way we knew how: through stories, conversation, and a shared love of trees! Our Spring Equinox book club dove into The Tree Collectors: Tales of Arboreal Obsession by Amy Stewart. We had a lively discussion, enjoyed some delicious cocktails and snacks, and learned a lot from each other!

This book was a delightful read that introduced us to an eclectic cast of people whose lives have been transformed by trees, from rare species hunters to backyard growers and devoted caretakers. It’s a celebration of the ways trees shape our lives, aligned with the energy of the equinox and the season of renewal ahead.

Stay tuned for our next Leaf by Leaf Book Club pick that we’ll be announcing soon! We are finalizing a summer date, but just know you won’t want to miss it!

Our April Tree of the Month has made its way into

Our April Tree of the Month has made its way into our Sales Yard! Flowering Crabapples are just about to POP with bright spring blooms! We have a gorgeous assortment of pink and white flowering varieties in both dense multi-stem forms or single trunk specimens. Plant some spring blooms this season!
