2025 inventory season update. 🌳📏 Every August, the rhythm at the nursery shifts. The tractors still hum and the crews still work the rows but there’s a new kind of focus in the air. Inventory season is here!

Led by SGN Trees Grower Joey Thomas, our crew heads into the field with calipers in hand, measuring every tree. Using the InstaCaliper from 2nd Sight Bio, each reading uploads straight into our GrowPoint inventory system which turns rows of numbers into the story of our season.

Inventory isn’t just about counting trees, it’s about noticing the details. This year, we’re seeing strong, healthy growth across the board. Younger stock is filling out beautifully, and many varieties are right on schedule for fall digging or next spring’s harvest.

Summer is a great time to be out in the field tend

Summer is a great time to be out in the field tending to the trees. Aside from the occasional scorcher, the season brings vibrant blooms, frequent wildlife sightings, and the classic farmer’s tan. Before we know it, fall will be here and things will ramp up again as we race to finish the season before winter sets in. But before our summer winds down, we want to take a moment to highlight the amazing college interns who’ve been working alongside us these past few months.

We’ve had a fantastic crew this year—let’s get to know them a little better!

Carter is Jamie and Becky’s nephew and we’ve loved having him working with us on the farm! This is his second summer working at the nursery, and he enjoys working on equipment and taking field trips to local spots to help deliver and plant trees for all types of projects! Have fun back on campus, and I-L-L!
