The SGN Trees Family kicked off the New Year in Or

The SGN Trees Family kicked off the New Year in Oregon! Joey is spending the winter interning at Robinson Nursery, so we all packed up and headed west to spend family time together along the stunning Oregon coast. In between sightseeing, we have been able to visit nurseries and watch our spring crop of trees getting harvested, sorted, bundled, and prepped for shipping to us in a few short months. Fascinating! Here are a few pics of our visit to Robinson Nursery where Josh Robinson gave us the BEST behind the scenes tour! Joey has been graciously welcomed there as part of their team and family, and they showed us that same hospitality during our visit. Thank you to the Robinson family for hosting us! In between nursery visits, we also took in the spectacular Oregon coast sites. The sea lions and fresh seafood in Newport were a hit with the kids. And of course we had to check out the Tillamook Cheese factory! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! We would like to thank all our customers for choosing us as their grower this past year. We really appreciate the trust you have placed in us, and we value your friendship & loyalty. In addition, we would like to thank our suppliers & business associates for their support & expertise. We are very lucky to work with such great partners in the Green Industry!

Our family started last New Year hiking together in Zion National Park. Along the trails we made plans for the upcoming season and renewed our spirits as well. This New Year’s we all are coming together in Oregon! Joey is spending the winter working at Robinson Nursery, so we plan to meet up on the west coast to ring in the new season together. We look forward to exploring nurseries and the beautiful Oregon landscape while spending time together reflecting & resting. Joey is already having an amazing experience with the Robinson family, and that spirit of support and collaboration in the nursery business is really what it’s all about. While Joey is there working this winter, he is a part of their family, and we couldn’t be more thankful for their generous welcome!

Our SGN Trees Team is looking forward to a few fascinating forestry & arborist conferences coming up this fall. Both will run concurrently in mid-November, so our team will be splitting up and bouncing back between both of them. We’d love to connect with our tree friends at either of these events, so if you are attending be sure to look for our booths and stop by to talk TREES with us! .

This year marks the 42nd Illinois Arborist Association Annual Conference & Trade Show at the Tinley Park Convention Center. SGN Trees Grower Becky Thomas will be presenting on Wednesday, Nov 20 at 2PM in the Plant Health Care Demonstration Area. Her presentation “From Farm to Parkway: Tried & True Selections that Thrive” will provide an inside view into the process and timeline of growing trees to plant in the landscape. The presentation will highlight harvest timing of species and the seasonal needs of trees throughout the growing process. Spring Grove Nursery Grower, Becky Thomas, will also share her expertise about growing Tried & True Trees that thrive in tough conditions. .

The Arbor Day Foundation is thrilled to announce that the 2024 Partners in Community Forestry Conference and partnering events will be held in Chicago, Illinois from November 19–21. This gathering unites passionate individuals, communities, organizations, and leaders to explore innovative solutions, share insights, and collaborate on the future of urban forestry. We can’t wait to spend time in the Chicago canopy learning more about trees!
