t’s Inventory Season at the Nursery!

Every August, we roll up our sleeves and dive into a full field inventory. Counting and measuring every tree in production. It’s a big job, but a meaningful one. This process helps us plan ahead, track growth, and ensure we’re offering the best quality trees to our customers.

🌿 Our Field Production Grower, Joey Thomas, leads the charge. With a sharp eye for quality and a spreadsheet always at the ready, Joey keeps things running smoothly from the field rows to the office desk.

We use InstaCaliper technology from 2nd Sight Bio to gather caliper measurements and counts efficiently...especially on multi-stem trees. After the fieldwork, the data is uploaded into our GrowPoint software, where we refine and organize the numbers for the seasons ahead.

As fall approaches, some species will continue to size up, so we’ll be back in December to spot check and update again before spring shipping begins.

It’s all part of growing with intention and we’re grateful for the team (and tech!) that helps make it happen.

Zach and I returned home from @youramericanhort’

Zach and I returned home from @youramericanhort’s Cultivate conference last month filled with fresh ideas, familiar connections, and a spark of creativity that only comes from gathering with others who love plants and people as much as we do!

This year, one of our biggest takeaways was inspiration through community. Whether it was a quick catch-up between education sessions, a deep-dive conversation over lunch, or gathering with friends over a delicious dinner we found so much value in simply being around others who are committed to growing this industry together. We especially loved connecting with our @landscapeillinois friends and our friend and neighbor down the road, Sarah at @sunshinegardencenter! Sometimes it takes meeting up at a conference a few states away to really get some time to hang out! Conversations like those are where ideas begin to bloom.
