Our Tree of the Month for September: Maples 🍁

In our nursery, Maples are a cornerstone of our work and a true symbol of resilience and beauty. From the stately shade of the State Street Maple to the fiery brilliance of Autumn Blaze, these trees bring year-round interest:

🌱 Spring – fresh buds and one of the first trees to flower...important for emerging pollinators!
☀️ Summer – cooling shade on hot days
🍂 Fall – unmatched fall color...golds, oranges, reds, and even purples
❄️ Winter – striking bark and pretty silhouettes

We grow nearly 20 varieties of Acer (both single and multi-stem forms) with fall colors ranging from glowing yellows to fiery reds.

While many think of Maple as “one-size-fits-all,” we know the diversity within this genus is something truly special. 🌳

Summer Intern Spotlight: Colin Collet

🌳 Favorite Tree: Honeylocust

🌳 Favorite Nursery Task: Delivering & Planting local trees

🌳 School & Major: Junior at UW–Platteville, Civil Engineering

Colin is another local college intern whose brother, Christopher, has also worked at the nursery. Much like the rest of his family, Colin is a runner! 🏃 He’s enjoyed taking field trips, delivering and planting local trees, and spending time working with friends.

It’s been so fun to watch him grow up and join the team on the farm this summer! 🌱
