This summer has been full of growth & change for us, both in the nursery and at home. Out in the field, our trees have been growing along nicely. Some species have even received a second pruning! The growth seems to be right on schedule to little bit more than average. We will be starting a new field inventory at the end of the month. More about that in a few weeks… Inventory season gives us the opportunity to measure our growth. Taking a look at growth gives us the opportunity to plan ahead and change. Our SGN Team has been enjoying the summer. We all went to the ILCA Fire & Ice festivities at Cantigny Park. The food & fun amongst the beautiful setting made for a great day! Back at the farm, the sweet corn is kicking in full gear. We are enjoying the long summer days and more flexible schedule. This time of year is good for time away from work to recharge. Maggie & Zach recently attended Cultivate in Ohio. They learned so much and can’t wait to share it with our team at SGN Trees. Jamie & I will be heading out to Oregon soon to visit our supplier nurseries. More on that in a few weeks… For now, we are all enjoying our summer months. On the home front, our garden in the back yard is a favorite end of the day spot. We have a fire pit in there now, and it is the perfect place to watch the sunset. Right now we are harvesting green beans, sugar snap peas, lettuce, zucchini, and herbs. Along with the garden, our family is going through a lot of growth & change. Maggie & Zach are remodeling a house in Mazon, and they will be settling in soon to make a perfect home for Fern & their dogs, Onyx & Atlas. We are thrilled to have them moving closer to us! Miss Fern will be at work with Maggie here at the SGN Trees office every day. Until their house gets finished, they are living with us. Our son Joey works with us on the farm also, so we couldn’t be happier to have the whole family together. We are enjoying summer with family!
