April came & went too fast this spring & now that May is here we can’t seem to get things done in the field fast enough! The weather finally allowed us to get going in the field and throughout April we were able to get all of our new liners planted & most of our digging done.
As we move into May, we are still finishing up some deciduous digging, however the dig window has closed on most trees. A few species are still able to be dug and shortly we will begin our evergreen digging. We are also just finishing pulling the dug trees in from the field. We hope to have everything in our holding yard & shipping area by the end of the week. At that point it can be put on irrigation and ready for shipping & loading.
Although we have all of our deciduous liners planted, we still have evergreen planting to do. Those will hopefully be in the ground soon! For a great look at tree planting here at the nursery, check out our
New this spring is some revolutionary technology in tree planting probably used for the first time at our nursery! We use auto-steer in the tractor to determine our tree rows. We are also using technology to track all of the trees planted in the nursery with GIS technology. This will allow us to make a computerized of map of the entire nursery by GPS coordinates of which trees are planted where. Becky’s Dad, Doug, shows viewers how it works from the cab of the tractor. Out back on the planter, Jamie demonstrates how the trees get properly planted. Our video wraps up with some great pics from around the nursery this spring and a fantastic tune for your listening pleasure! Enjoy!
Now is the perfect time to place your spring order. Our inventory will change quickly this month, so don’t delay in letting us know what you need! Please feel free to stop by and see what we have available above ground for your spring projects. We hope to work with you this spring!
