Beautiful scenes of fall can be found everywhere you look at the nursery! The fall season seemed to start a bit late with the trees taking a few weeks longer to begin to turn. We are in full swing now for fall digging on deciduous trees & coming to the end of our window for digging evergreens.
Our holding yard is quickly emptying out, and we are delivering & loading as quickly as we can get trees in from the field. We have also been wrapping up some fall planting projects in the nursery. Our crews are finishing up the ground prep for next season’s crop while the ground is able to be worked up.
We finally received some nice rains which popped up all our new grass strips. The rain also was good for the trees in the field – whether they are growing or waiting to be dug. Some more moisture this fall would be fantastic to help the trees get settled in nicely for the winter.
The growth in our fields this season was terrific. Jamie finished up his counts & measuring, and we are happy with the caliper growth on many of our trees. Despite the drought of 2012, the trees seemed to make up for it this year. That will prove to be a good thing with the demand for trees on the rise. Many of our trees are already being tagged & sold for 2014! Now is a great time to be thinking about next season. We recommend placing your order this fall or winter to insure you get exactly the size & variety you need for next year. Please feel free to schedule a tour or tagging appointment anytime.
Fall is a perfect time to get out into the nursery & see what we have growing in our fields!
