What a fantastic growing season this summer! We have seen terrific growth on all the trees. After the drought last year, we are suprprised at how quickly the trees rebounded. It seems like they put on extra growth to compensate.
Fall is just around the corner here. Everything is still green & actively growing. Once the temps begin to cool for a week or so consistently, we will begin to see the trees enter dormancy signaling the start of the fall digging season. It looks like it might be a bit later this year than normal, but it’s too soon to tell yet. Evergreens can safely be dug at this point and early fall is a great time to transplant them.
The field has been prepped for fall seeding in our nursery rows. Jamie will be getting that in shortly which will provide a great cover for our soil, helping to prevent erosion from wind & water. The grass strips also give us the opportunity to get around the field easily in the wet spring months. By not constantly cultivating the ground, we also keep a healthy soil profile that is free of compaction & rich in organic matter.
Check out our SEPTEMBER VIDEO! Jamie & Becky take you through the field to highlight some trees you won’t want to miss! Trees highlighted in the video are:
