Becky just returned from a great lobbying trip with IGIA members to Washington DC. She travelled to our capitol with Dave Bender (IGIA), Scott McAdam (McAdam Landscaping), Dean Goodenough (Goodenough, Inc.), & Dennis Molitor (Home Nursery) to visit with Members of Congress regarding issues important to the Green Industry. Topics like small business regulation, immigration reform, EAB federal grants, & legislation that values the eco-systems services of trees were among the top points of discussion. It was an interesting experience and one that is highly recommended if you ever get the chance to go!
In other Green Industry news, EAB is still on the move in Illinois. Recently confirmed in our own county, Grundy, the pest continues to cause devastation to Illinois communities across the state. Here is a link to the latest news about EAB from the Illinois Dept of Ag: EAB Autumn Update We have several programs & expertise available to communities looking to develop a plan for how to combat the pest & begin replanting. Please give us a call for more info on how Spring Grove Nursery can work with your community EAB plan.
Coming up in the Green Industry… MidAm Midwinter Conference & ANLA Management Clinic, both in January 2012. We have seen a glimspe of both education tracks & they each look great this year! Click on our links above to more about each of these worthwhile winter events.
